Dr. Catherine Tebaldi
Catherine Tebaldi is a postdoctoral researcher in linguistic anthropology and digital discourse analysis at the University of Luxembourg’s Culture and Computation Lab, a lab for digital cultural studies. Since 2025 she leads the project Digital Traditionalism which explores how new media brings back old ideas of language, gender and nation. From fall 2026 she is a visiting researcher at the University of Bern (CSLS) pursuing research on digital media, English and reactionary youth politics in Switzerland.
Research Interests
Catherine’s research interests center on language, gender, and nationalism. She looks at the language of reactionary cultures, such as tradwives, eco-fasicsts, and far-right bodybuilders; the ways conservatives position themselves against gender inclusive language in schools; or how far-right groups use multilingual communication to build transnational networks. She is also actively engaged in public-facing research with schools, media, and nonprofits to counter youth radicalization.
